Samarium cobalt pot magnets are powerful permanent magnets which are
encased in a steel pot and are workable under very high temperatures
that is 200° C. The magnetic force of these magnets are very high
as compared to ceramic magnets due to which they have good resistance
against demagnetization. Samarium pot magnets can be fastened that is
they can be pressed, glued and screwed.
Despite they have a steel pot but this also does not provide any
protection against flowing of magnetic force out. Thus while making pot
magnet the distance between the steel element and the magnet should be
maintained.
Applications
The samarium pot magnets have following applications:
- Welding moulds of spot-welding machines
- In very small tools
- In various gripping operations
